§ 1 — Meaning of the string Q118·Q120

No English Translation

/siˈkɾedʒi/

§ 2 — Mission and purpose Q133

The .Sicredi gTLD is intended for the exclusive internal use of Sicredi (Sistema de Crédito Cooperativo), Brazil's first and largest cooperative financial institution, founded in 1902 and currently operating over 2,800 branches across all Brazilian states. The applied-for string "Sicredi" is a distinctive, highly renowned and registered trademark in Brazil that uniquely identifies this cooperative system.

Domain name registrations under the Sicredi's gTLD will not be commercialized or made available for external or third-party. Intended registrants and users are strictly limited to Sicredi's central administration, affiliated credit cooperatives, controlled companies, and internal IT teams operating within the Sicredi ecosystem.

Activities to be carried out under .Sicredi include the deployment of internal domains for corporate applications, intranet portals, authentication systems, and internal APIs. A primary objective is the reduction of phishing and brand impersonation attacks targeting Sicredi's members, employees, and partners, by ensuring that all official digital services are identifiable through a trusted, controlled namespace. The gTLD will also support Sicredi's information security strategy by enabling strict DNS governance, internal certificate policies, and clear separation between internal infrastructure and public namespaces.

The purpose of the .Sicredi gTLD is sustainable over time for the following reasons: (i) Sicredi has operated continuously for over 120 years, demonstrating institutional durability and consistent growth; (ii) as a closed namespace with no external registrations, its operation is not subject to commercial market risk and is governed entirely by Sicredi's own strategic and IT planning cycles; (iii) growing regulatory requirements in Brazil (particularly under the Brazilian General Data Protection Law - LGPD and financial sector cybersecurity rules) reinforce the long-term relevance of a dedicated, secure internal namespace; and (iv) as a major financial institution regulated by the Banco Central do Brasil, Sicredi holds the organizational and financial capacity to fulfill all technical and contractual obligations associated with operating a gTLD registry on a permanent basis.

§ 3 — Commitments and safeguards Q164–Q188

More trustworthy, consumer risk, regulated sector, government reporting, harm, government function Q164–Q169Yes to: more trustworthy (Q164), consumer risk if abused (Q165)
Voluntary Safeguard PICs Q170·Q171None · 90 applications in the round offer some
Registry Voluntary Commitments Q172·Q173None · 5 do
Brand TLD criteria confirmed, trademark certificate attached Q180·Q181Yes · certificate not published
Confirms the string is not a “generic string” Q183Yes
Spec 11 §3(d) statement Q184

The applying entity will operate the .Sicredi gTLD exclusively as a closed registry, meaning that no domain names will be offered for public or third-party registration. All registrations under .Sicredi will be made solely by Sicredi and its affiliated entities for strictly internal purposes.

The technical back-end registry operation will be performed by NIC.br (Núcleo de Informação e Coordenação do Ponto BR), an independent third-party operator. Sicredi is not accredited nor intends to become accredited as an ICANN-authorized registrar.

Given this operational structure, no conflict exists with Section 3(d) of Specification 11. Because the registry is closed and no registration services are offered to the public or to competing entities, Sicredi does not occupy, simultaneously or otherwise, a position as registry operator and competing registrar in any open market. There is no commercial registration activity that could confer unfair competitive advantage over third parties. The sole purpose of the .Sicredi namespace is internal infrastructure management and brand protection, activities entirely outside the scope of the competitive concerns addressed by Section 3(d).

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
