The mission and purpose of the .OPC gTLD are to: (1) provide a semantically clear namespace in which one person companies and their service providers can publish, and Internet users can identify and reach, authentic one person companies and their information and services; (2) improve navigation through short, memorable addresses; (3) raise trust by applying uniform registry policies and security requirements, including DNSSEC, rights protection mechanisms and abuse prevention and mitigation, to reduce impersonation, phishing, fraud and malware; and (4) support the growth of the solo entrepreneurship ecosystem through a platform able to accommodate new services and markets.

Intended registrants are entrepreneurs, freelancers and individual business owners operating one person companies, and the formation, legal and accounting providers who support them. Registration will be open through ICANN-accredited registrars, subject to the Elegant Leader Limited's registration and acceptable use policies.
