Elegant Leader Limited, is applying for .AGENT as a dedicated namespace for a class artificial intelligence software that performs tasks on behalf of a user or another system.
The mission and purpose of the .AGENT gTLD are to:
(1) provide a semantically clear namespace in which developers, enterprises and service providers can publish, and Internet users can identify and reach, authentic agents and their endpoints and documentation;
(2) improve navigation through short, memorable Internet addresses;
(3) raise trust by applying uniform registry policies and security requirements, including DNSSEC, rights protection mechanisms and abuse prevention and mitigation, to reduce impersonation, phishing, fraud and malware; and
(4) support the growth of the agent ecosystem through a platform able to accommodate new services and markets.
Intended registrants are developers, enterprises, artificial intelligence companies, research institutions and other organizations that build, operate or integrate agents. Registration will be open through ICANN-accredited registrars, subject to the Elegant Leader Limited's registration and acceptable use policies. Elegant Leader Limited is part of the Alibaba Group of companies, and Artificial Intelligence is a priority for the future growth and success of Alibaba Group. Therefore, there is a long term commitment to this TLD to ensure its sustainable, safe, and secure future operation.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
