Myntra Designs Private Limited, IN Q1·Q25

Ultimately controlled by Walmart Inc. Q108 · ICANN record ↗

Existing registry operator, registrar or affiliate, as declared: Q12

The applying entity is not itself an existing registry operator. It is an affiliate of an existing registry operator, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. — the legal name under which the registry agreements for .WALMART, .SAMSCLUB, .GEORGE, and .GROCERY were originally executed. The full legal name of that entity was subsequently changed to Walmart Inc. in 2018. Walmart Inc. is the Ultimate Parent Company of the applying entity, and it is through this relationship that the affiliate status arises.

§ 1 — Meaning of the string Q118·Q120

Myntra refers to the market-leading Indian fashion brand. It has no meaning in English language.

/ˈmɪn.trə/

§ 2 — Mission and purpose Q133

We intend to operate the .MYNTRA TLD as a dotBrand TLD, where all domain registrations will be restricted to Myntra and organisations, subsidiaries, and affiliates within our corporate group, and potentially, to authorized licensees of our trademarks. The TLD will allow us to establish a secure, trusted, and highly recognizable digital space for our organisation. As one of India’s leading digital fashion, lifestyle and beauty commerce platforms, Myntra relies on consumer trust, data integrity, and clear brand recognition. A dedicated dotBrand TLD can help reinforce these objectives by enabling new services, digital experiences, and trusted interactions with our customers, brands, sellers, and partners.

We will implement a strict registration approval process to ensure registrations are limited and aligned with our business objectives. This will include:

An internal request and approval process for any part of Myntra’s business that wishes to use a domain name within our TLD; Creation of predefined registration policies setting out the eligibility criteria and approval requirements for registering a domain within our TLD; Use of a trusted corporate registrar for the creation and management of all domain names. The registrar will only accept requests from authorized individuals within Myntra or approved entities.

All domains within the .MYNTRA namespace will be exclusively used to support Myntra’s corporate objectives, including customer engagement, business operations, partner interactions, marketing initiatives, and future digital innovations. Operating the TLD in this restricted manner will ensure long-term sustainability through strong governance, centralized control, and established approval mechanisms.

Over time, .MYNTRA will serve as a strategic digital asset supporting Myntra’s identity, security, innovation, and digital transformation goals. The TLD will be operated in full compliance with ICANN policies, applicable data protection regulations, and industry best practices for DNS stability, security, and abuse mitigation.

§ 3 — Commitments and safeguards Q164–Q188

More trustworthy, consumer risk, regulated sector, government reporting, harm, government function Q164–Q169No to each
Voluntary Safeguard PICs Q170·Q171None · 90 applications in the round offer some
Registry Voluntary Commitments Q172·Q173None · 5 do
Brand TLD criteria confirmed, trademark certificate attached Q180·Q181Yes · certificate not published
Confirms the string is not a “generic string” Q183Yes
Spec 11 §3(d) statement Q184

The operation of .Myntra as a closed, restricted-registration. Brand TLD does not conflict with Section 3(d) of Specification 11, because Section 3(d)'s restriction applies only to generic strings operating as closed TLDs. MYNTRA is not a generic string. It is a distinctive, registered trademark that identifies a specific commercial source - Myntra Designs Private Limited, rather than a generic or descriptive class of goods or services. As a coined, source-identifying mark, MYNTRA does not meet ICANN's definition of a "generic string" under the New gTLD Program. Because Section 3(d) is expressly limited in scope to generic strings, and MYNTRA falls outside that category, its restriction on closed generic TLDs does not apply to this application, and no conflict with Section 3(d) exists.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
