§ 1 — Meaning of the string Q118·Q120
".heart" is the English word "heart," commonly understood to mean the organ that pumps blood through the body, and by extension the seat of emotion, compassion, courage, commitment, and the vital core of a person, cause, or endeavor.
/hɑːrt/
§ 2 — Mission and purpose Q133
The mission of .HEART is to create a distinctive and welcoming namespace for the people, organizations, businesses, communities, and causes connected by the many meanings of "heart." From love, affection, and human connection to compassion, health, wellness, courage, and the things people care about most, "heart" carries an enduring emotional and symbolic meaning that gives the namespace broad relevance.
Intended registrants include individuals and families, charities and nonprofit organizations, healthcare and wellness providers, community groups, relationship and lifestyle businesses, creators and artists, educators, retailers, hospitality businesses, advocacy initiatives, events, and organizations for which "heart" naturally expresses their identity, purpose, values, or work. Intended users include people seeking related services, resources, products, communities, causes, experiences, information, or opportunities to connect with others.
Natural and legitimate uses include relationships and celebrations; charitable and community initiatives; health and wellness resources; creative and personal expression; family and memorial sites; education and awareness; lifestyle and hospitality; arts and entertainment; retail and gifting; events; community projects; and other relevant products, services, and experiences. .HEART provides a memorable digital identity for subjects that matter deeply to people - whether matters of the heart, matters of health, or simply something at the heart of a community or organization. Oinkadot intends to support the development of the namespace through broad registrar distribution, appropriate positioning of .HEART for its intended markets, and ongoing awareness of its diverse personal, community, charitable, health, cultural, and commercial uses.
The purpose is sustainable because "heart" has enduring significance across human relationships, health, culture, language, community, and personal expression. What people hold close to their hearts may change, but the importance of caring, connecting, belonging, and wellbeing does not. The combination of literal, emotional, symbolic, personal, and commercial meanings provides a broad and lasting foundation for interest in the .HEART namespace.
