§ 1 — Meaning of the string Q118·Q120
"stubhub" is a coined term that is the brand name for the world's leading online marketplace for live event tickets, StubHub Holdings, Inc. It has no generic dictionary meaning in English.
stʌbhʌb
§ 2 — Mission and purpose Q133
StubHub is a leading global ticketing marketplace for live events. Through StubHub in North America and viagogo internationally, StubHub services customers in over 200 countries and territories, supporting over 30 languages and accepting payments in over 45 currencies – from sports to music, comedy to dance, festivals to theater. StubHub offers a safe and convenient way to buy or sell tickets to live events across the world for memorable live experiences. For more information, visit stubhub.com.
Mission and Purpose:
The .stubhub TLD will be a secure, trusted, and exclusive namespace for StubHub, the world's leading online marketplace for live event tickets. Operated as a closed, single-registrant dotBrand TLD under ICANN's Specification 13, it will initially be used exclusively by StubHub, Inc. and its affiliates. StubHub, Inc. also reserves the right to expand the eligible registrants to trademark licensees at a later date if it so chooses.
Core Objectives:
Consumer trust and security. Every domain within the namespace will be owned and operated by StubHub itself, giving fans, sellers, and partners a verified space in which to transact. This eliminates the risk of spoofing, phishing, and fraudulent ticket sales that persist across generic TLDs — a meaningful protection in an industry repeatedly targeted by bad actors.
Brand integrity. Consolidates a global digital presence under a unified, proprietary namespace, reinforcing brand identity across markets, languages, and business units.
Innovation in ticketing and fan experiences. Provides flexible infrastructure to develop, test, and launch new products and services across several areas:
- Product and commerce experiences — dedicated environments for trusted checkout and payment flows, loyalty and rewards programs, mobile-first experiences, and promotional campaigns such as gift cards and vouchers.
- Event, artist, and venue experiences — microsites for major tours, festivals, and championships; venue-branded pages tied to stadium and arena partnerships; co-branded fan hubs developed with artists, teams, and rights holders; and dedicated destinations for season-long or tournament-long events.
- Trust, safety, and customer service — verified seller programs, customer support and help resources, fan protection and guarantee messaging, and dedicated surfaces for account security and authentication.
- Internal and corporate use — employee portals, recruiting, corporate communications, investor relations, and secure internal tooling and staging environments operated behind the namespace.
A safer global marketplace. Aligns with StubHub's commitment to secure transactions, consumer protection, and compliance with regulatory requirements across the jurisdictions in which it operates.
Registration Policy:
Domain registrations in the .stubhub TLD will not be made available for third-party registration. All domains will be initially registered to StubHub or its affiliated entities, and operation will comply with all applicable ICANN policies and dotBrand requirements. All .stubhub domains will go through a strict registration approval process that will include:
- an internal request and approval process for any part of the business that wishes to use a domain name within our TLD;
- creation of pre-defined registration policies setting out who can register a domain within our TLD;
- use of a trusted corporate registrar for the creation of all domain names. The registrar will only accept requests from authorized individuals within our organization.
StubHub Inc. will also control the DNS records associated with all domain names at any level in the .stubhub TLD.
All domains will be exclusively for achieving our corporate objectives. Operation of the TLD in this restricted manner will easily be sustainable in the long term through the above-mentioned controls.
