§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120

To predict is to say in advance what will or may happen. The string is the ordinary English verb, used generally and not tied to any single industry, product, or brand.

prɪˈdɪkt

§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133

Domain Expert Partners LLC will operate .predict as an open top-level domain for organizations and individuals whose work involves forecasting, estimation, and projection. A domain in .predict identifies what a site is about before the visitor reads anything on it.

Intended registrants and users. Registration will be open to any eligible registrant on a first-come, first-served basis through ICANN-accredited registrars, with no eligibility criteria limiting registration to the registry operator or its affiliates. Expected registrants include analytics and data science providers, developers of modeling and machine learning tools, predictive maintenance and demand planning operations, weather and agricultural forecasting services, and academic and research groups. Users are the general public visiting those sites.

Related activities. Completed: formation of the applying entity, selection of registry service providers from ICANN's pre-evaluated list, and capitalization of the entity in advance of submission. To be carried out: registrar onboarding, implementation of the rights protection mechanisms required by the Registry Agreement, publication and enforcement of an anti-abuse policy, and marketing to the registrant categories identified above.

Sustainability. Technical registry functions are performed by a pre-evaluated registry service provider under contract, so the operator does not build or staff the registry infrastructure, and its principal costs scale with registration volume rather than in advance. Recurring renewal revenue from an open registration base supports operations on an ongoing basis, and the applicant has committed to fund the registry's startup and long-term operation.
