§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120

"Cloudflare" is a registered trademark of Cloudflare, Inc. There is no English translation.

/ˈklaʊd.flɛr/

§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133

"1. Mission and Purpose of the .cloudflare gTLD

The .cloudflare gTLD is a closed, single-registrant brand TLD operated by Cloudflare to support its mission to help build a better Internet. The TLD will provide a secure, trusted, and controlled namespace for Cloudflare’s services, platforms, infrastructure, and digital properties, and will be used for both internal and external purposes.

The goal of the .cloudflare gTLD is to promote and reinforce the Cloudflare brand while operating at the highest levels of security, performance, and reliability. The TLD will enable authenticated and verifiable domain usage, reducing risks associated with abuse, phishing, and impersonation, and improving secure access to Cloudflare-powered services across its global network.

Consistent with Specification 13, registration of domain names in the .cloudflare TLD will be limited to Cloudflare, its Affiliates, and, where applicable, its Trademark Licensees (as defined in Specification 13 of the Base Registry Agreement). Domain names registered to such entities will be used solely for activities reasonably related to the promotion, support, distribution, or provision of Cloudflare’s services.

Through these controls, the .cloudflare gTLD will function as a trusted and authenticated namespace supporting Cloudflare’s role as a provider of secure, high-performance Internet infrastructure and connectivity services.

2. Sustainability of the Purpose Over Time

The purpose of the .cloudflare gTLD is sustainable over time because it is directly aligned with Cloudflare’s core business, long-term strategy, and mission. As organizations continue to migrate to cloud-based and distributed environments, the need for secure, high-performance, and reliable Internet infrastructure will continue to grow.

The .cloudflare TLD will remain integral to Cloudflare’s operations by supporting its global network, enabling trusted service delivery, and reinforcing its brand across evolving technologies, including distributed applications and emerging use cases such as artificial intelligence.

As a closed, single-registrant TLD, .cloudflare will remain fully under Cloudflare’s control, ensuring consistent governance, security standards, and operational stability. Ongoing investment in Cloudflare’s infrastructure and services will further support the continued relevance and use of the TLD as a trusted and resilient namespace within the Internet ecosystem."

Déclaration Spec 11 §3(d) Q184

The applied-for gTLD is intended to qualify as a .Brand TLD pursuant to Specification 13 of the Base Registry Agreement and is not a "generic string" within the meaning of Section 3(d) of Specification 11. The applied-for string is identical to the Applicant's registered trademark and will be operated solely as a closed, single-registrant brand TLD.

Registration of domain names within the TLD will be limited to the Applicant, its Affiliates, and, where applicable, its Trademark Licensees, in accordance with Specification 13. The TLD will not be operated as an open or generic registry and will not offer domain name registrations to the general public or otherwise permit exclusive registration practices that would conflict with Section 3(d) of Specification 11.

Accordingly, because the applied-for string is a qualifying .Brand TLD rather than a generic string, the Applicant's intended operation of the TLD does not present any conflict with Section 3(d) of Specification 11.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
