§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120
Spice is an aromatic or pungent plant substance used to flavor or preserve food and, figuratively, something that adds interest or excitement. SPICE is also a recognized term for circuit-simulation tools in electronics.
/spaɪs/
§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133
The mission of .SPICE is to create a distinctive namespace built around the many meanings and uses of "spice." From the ingredients that bring flavor and character to food to the cultures, traditions, agriculture, trade, and businesses surrounding them, spice has enduring relevance around the world. The term also has an established technical meaning through SPICE simulation and modeling in electronics and engineering, giving the namespace an additional connection to technology, research, and education.
Intended registrants include spice growers and producers, agricultural businesses, importers and exporters, food brands and retailers, restaurants and culinary professionals, chefs and creators, marketplaces, educators and researchers, publishers, museums and cultural organizations, festivals and tourism initiatives, industry organizations, technology companies, engineers, laboratories, educational institutions, open-source projects, and individuals with a meaningful connection to the term. Intended users include consumers, cooks, chefs, travelers, students, educators, researchers, engineers, technology professionals, and audiences seeking related products, services, recipes, information, culture, technology, resources, or experiences.
Natural and legitimate uses include spices and seasonings; culinary products and services; recipes and food content; agriculture and production; sourcing and trade; restaurants and retail; cultural heritage and tourism; festivals and events; education and research; publishing and communities; SPICE simulation, models, tools, and engineering resources; technology projects; personal sites; and other relevant products, services, content, and experiences. Whether adding flavor to a meal or helping an engineer model a circuit, .SPICE provides a memorable digital identity for two very different but well-established meanings of the word. Oinkadot intends to support the development of the namespace through broad registrar distribution, appropriate positioning of .SPICE for its intended markets, and ongoing awareness of its diverse culinary, agricultural, cultural, technological, educational, and commercial uses.
The purpose is sustainable because spice has been part of food, culture, agriculture, and global commerce for centuries, while SPICE remains an established concept in electronics and engineering. Tastes, technologies, and recipes may change, but there will always be room for a little more spice. These independent culinary and technical meanings, together with continuing interest in food, culture, trade, education, and technology, provide a diverse foundation for long-term interest in the .SPICE namespace.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
