§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120

The string "pinet" refers to the shortened version of Pi Network.

/ˈpaɪˌnɛt/

§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133

Pi Network is a community of tens of millions of humans mining Pi cryptocurrency to use and build the Web3 app ecosystem. This blockchain network relies on its community of Pioneers, and rewards them, through an innovative mobile mining mechanism, for their diverse contributions and digital citizenship in a clear, meritocratic and decentralized way.

.PINET is intended to serve as an open, ecosystem-focused namespace for Pi-related applications, services, merchants, developers, partners, and community initiatives.

The purpose of .PINET is to create a clear and recognizable domain space for participants in the Pi ecosystem who want to identify themselves, publish services, and make their offerings easier for users to discover. Registrations are expected to be available to eligible third-party registrants, including application developers, merchants, ecosystem service providers, partners, community projects, and other participants that meet the registry’s registration and acceptable-use policies.

The market for the .PINET consists of the growing number of businesses, developers, merchants, and community operators building around Pi Network and seeking domain names that are more relevant and recognizable than generic alternatives. Potential use cases include application websites, developer documentation, merchant storefronts, service landing pages, ecosystem tools, partner initiatives, and community-facing properties.

The registry business model is expected to be based primarily on domain registration and renewal fees, with the potential for phased launch periods, reserved names, premium names, and policy-based eligibility controls where appropriate. .PINET is intended to operate as a sustainable registry by serving recurring demand from ecosystem participants who need persistent, recognizable, and purpose-specific domain names.

The namespace will be launched in a controlled and phased manner. Initial phases may prioritize core Pi Network uses, ecosystem infrastructure, and selected early registrants in order to establish operational readiness, user trust, and clear registration policies. Over time, the registry expects to expand access to a broader set of eligible registrants as demand, operational processes, and policy frameworks mature.

.PINET is not intended solely for the exclusive internal use of Pi Network. It is intended to support a broader domain market for eligible Pi ecosystem participants while maintaining appropriate policies to protect users, reduce abuse, and preserve the integrity of the namespace.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
