§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120

"Vibe" is an informal English word, short for "vibration," meaning the atmosphere, mood, or emotional quality of a place, person, situation, or piece of media.

/vaɪb/

§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133

1. Mission and purpose: The mission of .vibe is to provide a namespace for culture, mood and atmosphere: the businesses and creators whose product is a feeling. Intended registrants include music artists, venues, festivals and entertainment brands; hospitality, nightlife and travel businesses; fashion, lifestyle and consumer brands; and creators building distinctive audiences. Intended users are the fans, guests and consumers those registrants serve worldwide. Following delegation, the applicant will, as registry operator of the .vibe TLD, conduct a phased launch, implement all ICANN-required rights protection mechanisms, and distribute the TLD through ICANN-accredited registrars, supported by marketing and outreach to build awareness and adoption among the intended registrant and user groups. The TLD will be operated under a comprehensive DNS abuse prevention and mitigation framework covering the full range of abuse types, combining proactive and reactive controls. Abuse reports will be investigated and actioned in line with applicable policy requirements. The objective is to maintain .vibe as a high-quality, trusted namespace for registrants and end users.

2. Sustainability: "Vibe" entered popular vocabulary through music culture more than half a century ago and has remained in continuous, widening use across generations and markets; it is not a coinage of any current technology cycle. The industries it names (music, entertainment, hospitality and fashion) are permanent and continuously produce new brands.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
