§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120

.swi is the dedicated home for swimmers worldwide—from athletes and clubs to fans. While rooted in aquatics, alternative uses and creative interpretations of .swi are open and welcome to all registrants globally.

/swɪ/

§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133

1. Strategic Purpose and Core Intent

The primary mission of the .swi generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) is to establish an intuitive, multi-purpose digital namespace around the string .swi, rooted in the aquatic world. Conceived primarily as a direct shorthand for aquatic sports, water athletics, and pool-and-water-based organizations, .swi provides a clear, highly relevant identity for water-based performance, aquatic recreation, and maritime safety worldwide.

Yet, .swi is designed as a radically open digital space. Beyond its primary use in aquatics, the registry enthusiastically welcomes alternative uses, creative interpretations, and acronym-based applications of the string across technical, commercial, and cultural domains.

Furthermore, the registry proudly provides an inclusive platform for lifestyle niches and cultural expressions. This ranges from the historical preservation of swing music and dance to those exploring the more adventurous, lighthearted side of "swinging"—where aquatic motion and consensual "exchanges" share a welcoming, judgment-free harbor.

Alternatively, where used as an acronym, .swi carries significant weight across multiple specialized sectors. In technical fields, it stands for Software Interrupts, Single Wire Interfaces, and SWI-Prolog, or as an intuitive shorthand for software interfaces. Across environmental science, healthcare, and corporate management, it represents standards such as the Soil Water Index, Sustainable Water Initiatives, Susceptibility Weighted Imaging, and Standard Work Instructions.

2. Targeted Sectors and Application Pillars

The .swi gTLD is organized around four clear operational verticals: - Aquatic Sports & Water Athletics (Primary Anchor): Water sports associations, diving and water polo clubs, individual aquatic athletes, lifesaving institutions, pool facilities, and specialized water gear manufacturers. - Swing Culture & Lifestyle Groups: Swing dance academies, jazz preservation societies, cultural festivals, and adult lifestyle networks celebrating open social exchange and adventurous partner swaps. - Computer Science, Electronics & Tech: Developers and engineers utilizing Single Wire Interfaces, Software Interrupts in operating systems, maintainers of SWI-Prolog, and technical API platforms (Software Interfaces). - Other Industrial, Scientific & Enterprise Uses: Climate researchers monitoring the Soil Water Index, sustainable water initiatives, medical clinics performing Susceptibility Weighted Imaging, consultants establishing Standard Work Instructions, switchgear manufacturers, and IoT power automation systems.

3. Dedicated Aquatic Operational Activities & Long-Term Sustainability

To fulfill the core purpose of serving water athletics while ensuring operational resilience, the Registry executes targeted initiatives and maintains a multi-pillar viability framework:

Targeted Aquatic Activities: - Open Market Outreach: Engaging directly with water sports leagues, aquatic clubs, and water safety organizations to encourage open domain adoption across all levels of aquatic sports. - Grassroots Marketing & Sponsorships: Supporting aquatic events, water safety summits, and regional athletic clinics to promote namespace visibility among clubs, trainers, and equipment vendors.

Long-Term Sustainability & Risk Mitigation: - Diversified Revenue Base: Serving multiple distinct, non-correlated sectors—from aquatic athletics and adult lifestyle platforms to software interfaces and industrial applications—insulates the registry against sector-specific downturns and ensures stable renewal revenues. - Evergreen Demand & Low Churn: Water athletics, software interfaces, and lifestyle networks represent enduring global interests rather than temporary trends. Institutional registrants integrate these domain names into core infrastructure, driving high utility and exceptionally strong long-term renewal rates.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
