§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120

SAAS is a recognized English language acronym for Software as a Service

/sæs/

§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133

The applied-for gTLD .SAAS is intended to serve as a stable, secure, and clearly identifiable namespace associated with software-as-a-service offerings and related digital services. Its mission is to provide an online environment in which registrants can organize, manage, and present information, services, and resources in a manner that is relevant to their SaaS activities and to internet users seeking such solutions.

The purpose of the gTLD is to support a coherent and recognizable naming structure that improves navigability and reinforces the association between the domain space and software-delivered services. It may be used by registrants for official websites, customer support resources, product information, service portals, documentation hubs, developer resources, and other online properties relevant to their business and operational objectives, thereby helping internet users more easily identify and access SaaS-related content.

The primary target registrants for .SAAS include providers of software-as-a-service solutions, cloud-native application vendors, platform and infrastructure software companies offering subscription-based services, systems integrators, managed service providers, and related technology consultancies. By enabling these organizations to register concise, meaningful domain names that clearly signal their connection to SaaS, the gTLD can deliver value through improved discoverability, more consistent branding across products and regions, and clearer differentiation from non-SaaS offerings. Small and emerging SaaS businesses can benefit from access to relevant, sector-specific naming options, while larger enterprises can use .SAAS to structure portfolios of domains that reflect product families, geographic markets, partner programs, and specialized service lines.

The registry will operate the gTLD in a manner that promotes security, stability, and responsible stewardship of the namespace. Registration policies and usage will be administered in accordance with the registry’s operating model and applicable ICANN requirements, with the objective of ensuring that the gTLD remains aligned with its stated purpose and serves the interests of registrants and internet users who rely on the .SAAS domain space. Where appropriate, the registry may adopt additional safeguards or best practices to encourage accurate representation of services and reduce the risk of misleading or harmful use, while maintaining an open, globally accessible environment for legitimate SaaS-related registrants.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
