.bldg
StandardActiveXServer Cloud Incorporated, JP Q1·Q25
Xserver Cloud Inc. is a subsidiary of Xserver Inc. registrar with IANA ID 1557
§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120
“bldg” is the common written abbreviation of “building”; it refers to buildings and structures and, by extension, to the construction and real-estate sector.
/ˈbɪldɪŋ/ (read as “building”)
§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133
The mission and purpose of the .bldg gTLD is to provide a concise, self-describing namespace for the building, construction and real-estate sector. "Bldg" is the universally recognised written abbreviation of "building", which makes the TLD immediately understandable and gives it two complementary uses: the companies that design, construct, manage and sell buildings, and the buildings themselves — properties, developments, complexes and facilities that benefit from a short, descriptive online address of their own.
The intended registrants therefore fall into two groups. First, businesses in the sector: construction and engineering firms, architects, property developers, contractors, and real-estate and facility managers, who want a clear, on-theme address (for example [name].bldg). Second, individual buildings and developments — office towers, residential complexes, commercial centres and mixed-use projects — for which a dedicated domain provides tenants, buyers and visitors with a single, memorable point of reference. The intended users are the clients, tenants, buyers, partners and visitors who reach these companies and buildings online.
The TLD will be operated on an OPEN basis, with registration available to the general public through ICANN-accredited registrars on published terms applied on an equivalent basis to all registrars, consistent with the Registry Operator Code of Conduct (Specification 9). Related activities carried out to achieve this purpose include: (i) a launch program compliant with Specification 7 (Sunrise and Trademark Claims via the Trademark Clearinghouse); (ii) sector-focused go-to-market through accredited registrars and industry channels such as construction and real-estate associations and proptech platforms; and (iii) publication of registration policies prior to launch. Standard anti-abuse measures (the Mandatory Public Interest Commitments and the DNS Abuse provisions of Specification 11) apply to all registrations.
The purpose is durable because construction and real estate are large, permanent sectors of the economy that continuously produce new companies, developments and buildings needing an online presence, so the pool of relevant registrants does not deplete. The use case is renewal-driven: a company or a specific building anchored on a .bldg domain has strong incentives to retain it over the long life of the business or the asset — buildings in particular stand for decades — supporting stable long-term renewal revenue rather than one-off speculative registration. The applying entity, Xserver Cloud Inc., is part of the Xserver group, a leading Japanese hosting and cloud provider whose infrastructure, distribution relationships and financial resources support long-term operation. All Critical Functions (DNS, DNSSEC, EPP, RDDS, Data Escrow) are provided by Identity Digital, an established, ICANN pre-evaluated Registry Service Provider, ensuring operational continuity and compliance independently of registration volumes. Together, these factors ensure the namespace remains relevant, commercially viable and operationally stable for the full life of the TLD.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
