§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120
Common English verb, among the most frequent in the language. To get is to obtain, acquire or receive something. The string is used in that ordinary sense.
/ɡet/
§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133
The mission of .get is to give businesses a short address formarketing and commericla use. The string is the ordinary English verb ""get"" - to obtain, acquire or receive. It is applied for and will be operated in that plain descriptive sense, as an open namespace.
Registrants are businesses, independent workers and small teams that need to point people at one specific thing: a shop running a seasonal offer, a service business with a booking page, a subscription or membership scheme, an event organiser selling tickets, an app or tool publisher pointing at a download, a trainer or consultant offering a first session, and the agencies and freelancers who build campaign pages on their behalf. Larger organisations wanting a short address for a single offer are welcome on the same published terms.
Users are the people who follow those addresses from a poster, a radio spot, a package insert, a business card, a message or a social profile.
An offer is almost always announced somewhere the address cannot be clicked. It is spoken aloud, printed on a flyer, put on a vehicle, printed on a receipt or written on a whiteboard. What that address has to be is short enough to remember between hearing it and typing it, and clear enough that the reader knows an action is expected.
The TLD will launch with the rights protection mechanisms required by Specification 7, including a Sunrise period and a Trademark Claims period. General Availability will then be open, with no eligibility restrictions and no reservation of the namespace to the applying entity or its affiliates. Distribution will be through ICANN-accredited registrars on published, non-discriminatory terms consistent with Specification 9, including any affiliated registrar, which will receive the same terms as every other. Technical operation is contracted to a pre-evaluated Registry Service Provider, and abuse mitigation follows the Mandatory Public Interest Commitments and the DNS abuse obligations of the Base Registry Agreement, with a published abuse point of contact.
Promotion is a permanent function of commerce rather than a phase of it: small businesses announce offers continuously, and each announcement needs an address, so demand is recurring rather than one-off. Addresses of this kind are also printed and spoken, which is what drives renewal - material already distributed keeps sending people to a name, so letting it lapse discards traffic that is still arriving. The verb is among the most common in English and is widely understood beyond first-language markets, which keeps the addressable population broad rather than confined to one region, and it belongs to no vendor, sector or platform. The applying entity belongs to an established hosting group with a direct channel to the small businesses concerned, so awareness does not rest on paid acquisition alone, and registry operations are contracted to a pre-evaluated Registry Service Provider under a signed agreement, so the obligations of the Registry Agreement are met throughout ramp-up without depending on registration revenue alone.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
