§ 1 — Sens de la chaîne Q118·Q120

“No English Translation”

/ˈmʏnçn̩/

§ 2 — Mission et objet Q133

Part 1 — Mission, Purpose, Intended Registrants and Users, and Related Activities

The mission of the muenchen gTLD is to provide a clear and recognizable namespace in which the string 'muenchen' — applied for as a proper noun and open identifier — serves individuals, organizations, and businesses as a distinctive label, name element, and brand anchor for a broad and diverse global registrant base.

The intended registrants and users of .muenchen include among others: - Businesses and commercial enterprises operating under or affiliated with "muenchen" as part of their brand identity, product lines, or organizational name; - organizations whose identity, mission, or activities are linked to "muenchen" as a proper noun or identifier; and - individuals, professionals and creatives who use "muenchen" as a personal name, stage name, or professional identifier.

To achieve this purpose, the registry operator will: maintain an open, non-discriminatory registration policy accessible to registrants through an ICANN-accredited registrar network; implement robust DNS infrastructure and security standards in full compliance with ICANN's Registry Agreement and applicable consensus policies; promote .muenchen as a high-quality and secure namespace whose registrants and users identify with the proper noun “muenchen”; and engage a global registrar base to ensure wide and efficient accessibility for registrants and users worldwide.

Part 2 — Sustainability of Purpose Over Time

The sustainability of the .muenchen gTLD is grounded in the enduring strength of "muenchen" as a proper noun and identifier. Unlike descriptive or generic strings vulnerable to linguistic or market shifts and as a proper noun with broad applicability across sectors and user groups, 'muenchen' supports a diverse and evolving registrant base without being tied to a single use case.. It can accommodate businesses, organizations, and individuals across different contexts, allowing the namespace to evolve while maintaining a clear and consistent naming concept.

Sustainability is further ensured through the following structural factors: - Open registration model: Allowing any registrant identifying with "muenchen" as a proper noun or brand anchor to register a domain name ensures a broad, accessible, and self-sustaining demand base; - Growing DNS ecosystem: As global internet penetration increases and the domain name ecosystem expands, meaningful and identifiable strings such as .muenchen are well-positioned for growing adoption among entities seeking to differentiate their online identity; - Operational self-sufficiency: Registration and renewal fees provide a stable, recurring revenue base funding infrastructure, ICANN compliance, and ongoing namespace development; - Governance and trust: The registry operator commits to maintaining transparent policies, dispute resolution mechanisms, abuse prevention, and abuse mitigation measures that protect registrants, users and namespace integrity, security, and user confidence over time.

Collectively, these factors ensure that .muenchen will remain a viable, relevant, and well-governed namespace well into the future.

Q121As per Section 3(d) of Specification 11 of the Base Registry Agreement, a registry operator of a “generic string” may not impose eligibility criteria for registering names in the TLD that limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity and/or that person’s or entity’s “Affiliates” (as defined in Section 2.9(c) of the Registry Agreement). “Generic String” means a string consisting of a word or term that denominates or describes a general class of goods, services, groups, organizations or things, as opposed to distinguishing a specific brand of goods, services, groups, organizations or things from those of others. Confirm that the applied-for string is not a “generic string” in which the applying entity intends to limit registrations exclusively to a single person or entity.
